We were inspired by Guastavino’s exquisite tile arches when creating our Guastavino Tile Collection; Guastavino was a Spanish architect and builder. Based on the Catalan vaults, he developed the Guastavino tile — a “Tile Arch System” patented in the United States in 1885 — used to build robust, self-supporting arches and architectural vaults with interlocking terracotta tiles and layers of mortar. Guastavino tile appears in some of New York’s most notable Beaux-Arts landmarks and in major buildings across the United States. It’s used in a large number of architecturally important and famous structures with vaulted spaces. Guastavino was not the principal architect on most of those projects.

- Note: Do not dry-cut porcelain or ceramic tiles during installation because of the risk of silica dust exposure. Use a wet saw or a score-and-snap tool when cutting.
