Easy Care and Cleaning
Microsuede Cleaning Instructions: Spills and stains usually disappear with a gentle dab of a cloth dampened in lukewarm water. For resistant stains. Can Microsuede Be Machine-Washed? Yes, microsuedes are machine-washable. Don’t use bleach. Use cold water, not hot. Line dry, so the cover retains its shape. Don’t tumble dry. Microsuede can be dry-cleaned too.
Machine or hand wash separately, delicate cycle, cold water, mild detergent. Do not bleach. Line dry or tumble dry, low heat. To restore the sensuous nap and soft luster of a microsuede cover, buff the surface lightly with a medium bristle brush.
Sewing Tips for Best Results
Faux suede is a napped fabric. Lay out and cut faux suede according to the “with nap” guidelines. Use a press cloth on top of the fabric when pressing; place a terrycloth towel or needle board under the fabric and steam or press seams face down to avoid shiny or flattened areas.
Sew as leather, using clips instead of pins, and polyester thread. Needle marks will show. Use a jeans needle in size 75 or 70 for best fabric penetration. For faux suede with stretch, use a stretch needle in the appropriate size. To soften faux suede, machine wash in warm water and dry on delicate. Repeat several times. Tennis balls in the dryer help to soften the fabric without damaging it.
